So far this week (Mon-Thurs), UK feed wheat futures (Nov-23) have climbed 1.9%. This rise has followed both Chicago wheat (Dec-23) and Paris milling wheat (Dec-23) futures, up 1.0% and 1.6% respectively.

Global grain markets remain reactive to any news on Ukrainian grain exports. Ukraine’s military and local authorities said this morning that ports in the southern Odesa regions and the Danube River area were targeted overnight in drone attacks, setting at least one grain storage facility on fire (Refinitiv).

Recently, China announced they were lifting the 80.5% anti-dumping and countervailing duties on Australian barley. This duty had been in place since May 2020, effectively blocking Australian barley exports to China.

Yesterday, consultancy Stratégie Grains pulled back their EU production forecasts for both wheat and maize (Refinitiv).
