6:30pm - 8:00pm

Join AHDB Beef & Lamb for a live discussion with independent sheep consultant, Kate Phillips, and North York Moors Swaledale breeders, Tim Dunn and Barry Wheldon.

In 2017, a group of Swaledale breeders from the North York Moors set out to improve the growth, conformation and overall productivity of their hill wether lambs by looking at the breeding, health and finishing of these lambs. The group have recently completed the initial phase of the project and as they look at ways to move forward, we will discuss with Tim and Barry about their reasons for being involved with the project and key messages they would want to pass to fellow hill farmers. Ultimately, we will ask the question; are hill wethers a by-product or an opportunity?

Kate Phillips has worked with the group over the past three years and will be on hand to answer any technical questions you have about the breeding, health and finishing of hill lambs.
