7:00pm - 8:30pm

Maternal matters is a new AHDB initiative putting a spotlight on the importance of maternal performance in driving profitability in the suckler herd. In this webinar we will hear from AHDB’s lead analyst for Farm Economics, Carol Davis, for an insight into the key elements that affect profitability on suckler farms. We will also be joined by Steven Sandison who farms 100 Simmental and Saler cross cows on the Orkney Islands. Steven completed a Nuffield report, ‘Are benchmarking targets for suckler cows achievable?’ and was Orkney’s first monitor farm.

So, if you are a beef farmer wanting to gain a better understanding of your costs of production, then this webinar is for you.

The webinar will cover the following:

  • How improved maternal performance reduces cost of production
  • The characteristics of the top 25% of beef farmers
  • Key performance indicators
  • Farmer experiences of reducing costs on their farm

During the event, we’ll also look at a range of tools and resources available to help you review your farm business.

If you can’t make the webinar, please still register, as it will be recorded and sent to you afterwards to watch in your own time.
