Webinar: The Future of Skills

Past Event

Monday, 30 March 2020

7:00pm - 8:00pm

Building a skilled workforce in agriculture and horticulture is one of the greatest opportunities of our time.

Join this webinar to hear how our industry is pulling together to rise to the occasion - and how you can play your part too.

To meet the challenge of modern farming and environmental practice and to stay competitive, we need to be ambitious about developing our people. Our sector is changing, with a technological revolution on the horizon and a related need for different skills and capabilities: precision technology, data, automation.  The lack of the right skills in the workforce leads to loss of profit and productivity for your business, and decreased economic output as an industry.

This means getting better organised to maintain and attract sufficient labour with skills for the future. To help tackle this, an industry-wide coalition was recently launched at the Oxford Farming Conference.

In this webinar Sir Peter Kendall (outgoing AHDB Chair) and Simon Gadd (NFU Next Generation) will describe the initiative's vision for skills, how the will benefit you, and help attract new talent into agriculture and horticulture careers.

If you’re not able to attend on the night, you can still register to receive a recording of the webinar afterwards.
