Trainers required to deliver stockperson training
Thursday, 29 June 2023
We are looking for expressions of interest from trainers who can deliver our Stockperson Plus training courses later this year.
In response to the changing needs of the pig industry, we have reviewed and redesigned our stockperson training offering to reflect producer feedback and the changing responsibilities of stockpeople.
The Stockperson Plus course will be more technically advanced than the Stockperson Development Scheme and includes new topics, as requested by stockpeople and their managers; there are also options for indoor and outdoor units.
Session topics
- Advanced gilt management and planning
- Advanced breeding and service management
- Advanced farrowing management (indoor)
- Advanced farrowing management (outdoor)
- Advanced weaner management (indoor)
- Advanced weaner management (outdoor)
- Water management, testing, regulations, and maintenance of systems
- Euthanasia, deadstock, and maintenance of equipment
- Assurance schemes and auditing
Trainers
We are looking for experienced people who are interested in delivering either individual or blocks of training sessions online. Trainers must have relevant technical expertise as well as practical experience.
We encourage senior managers, field people, and other industry experts, as well as vets who have been involved with our training programmes previously, to apply.
For new trainers, who might be unfamiliar with delivering online training, we will provide support and guidance, as well as help building the programmes to deliver against the required learning objectives and outcomes. We will also review the sessions and update them if and when required.
We plan to launch the training in early autumn and will be sharing more details over the summer.
Get in touch with Andrew Palmer, Knowledge Exchange Relationship Manager, if you would like to find out more about getting involved.
The closing date for expressions of interest is 12pm on 31 July 2023.
