Beef foodservice performance
Over the past 52 weeks, beef volumes in foodservice declined -3.5% year-on-year (AHDB estimated volumes based on Worldpanel by Numerator UK OOH data, 52 w/e 28 December 2025), with average prices per pack increasing +0.9% (Worldpanel by Numerator UK OOH data). This decline was primarily due to takeaways, which saw an -8.6% decline in volumes year-on-year.
Growth was seen for Asian (+11.5%), Indian (+1.0%) offerings (AHDB estimated volumes based on Worldpanel by Numerator UK OOH data, 52 w/e 28 December 2025). Asian meals benefitted from an increase in volumes purchased per buyer, while Indian benefitted from increased buyer numbers. Growth was also seen for savoury pastries (+0.3%) driven by uplift in beef pies.
In contrast, burgers, which represent 48% of total beef foodservice volumes, were seen to decline in volumes by -3.4% year-on-year, driven by the move to lower priced, smaller volume burgers such as cheeseburgers. Volume declines were also seen for Italian (-2.7%), meat centred meals (-7.7%), sandwiches (-12.3%) and beef Mexican meals (-20.1%).

Lamb foodservice performance
In the 52 weeks ending 28 December 2025, volumes for total lamb in foodservice grew +0.2% year-on-year (AHDB estimated volumes based on Worldpanel by Numerator UK OOH data, 52 w/e 28 December 2025), despite average pack prices paid increasing +10.2% year-on-year (Worldpanel by UK OOH data). This growth was driven by increases in dine in/on-the-go dishes, as takeaways saw declines year-on-year.
Growth was seen for meat centred meals (+5.6%), focussing on lamb roasts and benefitting from an increase in frequency of purchase. Volume increases were also seen for Asian dishes (+57.4%) and savoury pastries (+6.3%). Asian dishes saw an increase in the number of buyers and volumes purchased per buyer, while savoury pastries benefitted from increased buyer numbers.
Kebab, which make up 50.6% of all lamb volumes sold out-of-home, were seen to decline -2.4% year-on-year over the past year, due to decreases in volumes purchased per trip and the number of buyers. Indian meals also saw declines (-3.4%) due to fewer buyers. Burgers, sandwiches and salads also saw volume declines.

Pig meat foodservice performance
In the 52 weeks ending 28 December 2025, volumes for pig meat in foodservice declined -2.5% year-on-year (AHDB estimated volumes based on Worldpanel by Numerator UK OOH data, 52 w/e 28 December 2025), driven primarily by a decline in takeaways. During this time, average prices per pack increased +4.3% (Worldpanel by Numerator UK OOH data).
Growth was seen for Mexican dishes (+22.5%), and Italian (+0.6%) meals. Mexican meals benefitted from increased buyers and frequency of purchase, while pork Italian meals benefitted from an increase in buyers.
In contrast, savoury pastries, which make up 30.9% of all pig meat foodservice volumes, saw a -5.1% decline in volumes year-on-year, driven by reductions in frequency of purchase and number of buyers. Breakfasts (-5.3%), Indian (-41.2%), meat centred meals (-3.8%), pizza (-14.1%) and salads (-1.5%) also saw declines.
