Webinar: Vaccination use in the suckler herd - what, where, when?

Past Event

Thursday, 10 March 2022

7:00pm - 8:00pm

Join AHDB and vet, Neil Eastham of Bishopton Veterinary Group, for this webinar focusing on vaccination use in the suckler herd. There are approximately 40 different vaccines authorised for use in cattle in the UK. When administered correctly, they are a great way of preventing disease whilst also reducing antibiotic use.

They work by stimulating the immune system without actually infecting the animal with disease. If the vaccinated animal then comes into contact with the disease itself, its immune system recognises it and immediately produces the antibodies required.

By attending this webinar, you will learn the following:

  • Why vaccination should form a key part of your herd health plan
  • Priority vaccinations for use in the suckler herd, particularly for breeding animals
  • How to store vaccines correctly
  • How to administer vaccines effectively
  • How to manage bought in stock to maintain a healthy herd

This webinar forms part of the AHDB Maternal Matters campaign, helping suckler producers breed heifer replacements which are efficient, profitable and fit for the future.

Please register online or by contacting the events team via email  KE.Events@ahdb.org.uk or call 01904 771218. If you can’t make the webinar, please still register and we will email the recording to you afterwards to watch in your own time.
