Join us for this webinar where we will discuss how to ensure diversification is successful for you and your business, and not just a distraction.

AHDB's Skills Development Manager, Amie Burke, will be joined by Sarah Baker, Strategic Insight Manager, and Jo Reynolds of Church Farm Brewery.

We will discuss:

  • When is the right time for diversification?
  • What to consider and the tools to use to plan a new enterprise
  • The importance of communication throughout the process
  • A real-life story of successful diversification

Jo Reynolds  started her first business, a childrens' day nursery, to supplement the family income from farming 20 years ago. It is now a thriving 40-place nursery employing nine local people. Once they had exhausted every way to make the farm pay they decided to diversify, and in 2012 Church Farm Brewery was born.

Sarah Baker is an Agricultural Economist from Wye College, (Imperial College), London, and has worked in the industry for over 20 years. The last 4½ years have been with AHDB as Strategic Insight Manager, examining the impact of future agricultural trade and policy changes on UK agriculture.

Amie Burke is Skills Manager at AHDB, working with agricultural and horticultural business to identify and target gaps in skills, helping them develop a strategic approach to people management, leadership and personal development.  Having worked in the agricultural sector for more than 10 years, Amie focuses on business improvement for farmers and is a qualified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor. Amie has also been selected as an OFC Emerging Leader 2020.
