School Farm Visits Support Programme for farmers
Tuesday, 21 November 2023
Last Wednesday, the School Farm Visits Support Programme pilot kicked off with CEVAS (Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme) training.
Twenty levy payers joined the training following a successful open application process that took place with support and input from our KE teams.
The training consists of a two-day face-to-face course held at Coleshill, Warwickshire, for half of the cohort, and an online version, over the course of six weeks, for the remaining farmers who are all based across England.
Once they have completed their training, each farmer will plan and deliver one school farm visit for approximately 30 young people for a half or full-day visit.
Our Education team are working with LEAF Education to deliver this support programme to help farmers deliver safe and engaging school farm visits and increase opportunities for children and young people to experience a working farm.
