Feed is a major cost of keeping a suckler cow and has a huge impact on fertility, calving ease and calf performance. The cheapest form of feed available to livestock farmers is grass. It is estimated that we waste 30% of the grass we grow. Since becoming a Strategic farm, E.H Holdstock & Son have introduced new grassland leys through reseeding and are keen to explore rotational grazing in 2019.

This event will be an opportunity to learn:

  • Basic principles of good grassland management
  • Options for improving existing grassland leys
  • The principles rotational grazing – setting up, stocking rates, sward heights

The event will be interactive with plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

It will also be a great opportunity to hear and discuss the changes that the family have made to their business over the year and a half and capture anything that you may be able to apply to your own business.

To attend the meeting you will need to book so please email KE.events@ahdb.org.uk or call 01904 771212 so we can plan catering accordingly.
