Pig industry placements needed for students

Could your business offer a year’s placement to an undergraduate looking for experience in the pig industry?

We are currently looking for potential sponsors of the Pig Industry Scholarship Programme, an initiative that we helped develop with the NPA and Harper Adams University more than a decade ago.

In that time, more than 50 students have spent their placement year working within our sector, with many returning to the companies after graduation.

We are recruiting sponsors for the 2026/2027 academic year (students who will be starting their placements in the summer of 2026).

There are many benefits to those who get involved:

• Attract potential new employees from a huge pool of talent
• Gain first access to students who are looking for a 12-month industry placement
• Be seen as a business that cares about upskilling the next generation
• Establish a relationship with a student early in their studies
• Train and appraise student during a ‘year-long interview’
• Financial investment is comparable to advertising in the national farming press and is often tax deductible

The deadline for expressing an interest is Monday 1 September and there will be a scholarship fair on Monday 20 October.
