Milling Wheat Conference to look closer at quality

Selecting the right variety through to meeting specification for the baking of a quality loaf will be explored at the 2019 Milling Wheat Conference, alongside announcing the YEN (Yield Enhancement Network) Wheat Quality Award.
The event, in association with nabim, will bring together industry experts to focus on assessing varieties and growing for the market.
Presentations will cover managing wheat crops for quality from Sarah Clarke, ADAS alongside a perspective on growing for the market from milling wheat grower, James Price, Perdiswell Farm.
This year will feature for the first time a panel of millers from across the industry to lead the discussion on their requirements and how to capture quality through storage from specialist Philip Darke, Camgrain.
The conference will build on last year’s theme to take a whole-chain approach to driving productivity and meeting specification. Delegates will be provided insight from Eva Wheeler, Allied Bakeries on the consumers take for baking.

Joe Brennan, Policy and Research Officer, nabim, said “This event covers the journey of milling wheat through the whole supply chain and explores how high yield and quality specifications can be achieved together and what quality actually means for millers and their customers.”
The event is open to anyone with an interest in milling wheat and will also feature the presentation of the YEN Wheat Quality Awards, run and managed by ADAS.
