Education plans for British pork in 2025

Tuesday, 29 April 2025

At AHDB, we're investing in education to spark lifelong curiosity about food, farming and the role British pork plays in a healthy and sustainable diet.

Our 2025 education strategy is all about empowering school-aged children to become informed consumers – through hands-on learning, trusted resources, and inspiring experiences.

A key focus is helping teachers use Food – a fact of life as their go-to online resource for curriculum-aligned food education. We're modernising the digital offering and developing fresh content to make lessons about pork and farming more engaging and accessible for primary and secondary pupils alike.

We’re helping more students connect with their food and farming both in and beyond the classroom. That means expanding our ingredients into schools pilot, getting pork into more practical cookery lessons and supporting school farm visits so students can see, touch and taste the story of British food first-hand.

We're also proud to continue our support of Ladies in Pigs, whose members work tirelessly to promote the benefits of British pork. Through our sponsorship, they deliver fun, practical cookery demonstrations and activities in schools and at public events, bringing the story of British pork to life for thousands of young people each year.

To further our outreach, we're excited about the forthcoming Focus on Farming student conference taking place on a farm in Wiltshire on 26 June, where we’ll be hosting a dedicated workshop all about pigs. This hands-on session will educate and champion British pork and the vital role farming plays to produce our food.

By 2025, our goal is simple: more food education in schools, more students cooking with real ingredients and more young minds inspired by British farming.
