Educating a new generation

Monday, 4 March 2024

Over the last few weeks, we have been busy delivering the latest stage of the School Farm Visits Support Programme with LEAF Education.

Seventeen of the farmers new to hosting school farm visits are now fully CEVAS (Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme) accredited. This follows a robust training and assessment process. These farmers are now planning their first school visits.

Talking about the CEVAS programme, one of the newly accredited farmers said:

“I've really enjoyed the course and it has given me so much more confidence to start doing school visits.

Before, I honestly didn't know where to start, particularly with reaching out to schools, but I've had so many ideas on how I can reach out and the range of what I can offer here since doing the course.”

In February, we also delivered three CEVAS alumni events across the country. These enabled existing CEVAS accredited farmers to come together and share best practice and experiences.

One CEVAS alumni commented:

“It was great to have time to exchange ideas and learn lots about how we can do things better and hopefully support each other in the future.”

We are working with LEAF Education to deliver this support programme to help farmers deliver safe and engaging school farm visits and increase opportunities for children and young people to experience a working farm.
