Encyclopaedia of cereal diseases

This encyclopaedia will help you understand the major and minor diseases of cereals, with a focus on the organisms that cause them.

The encyclopaedia of cereal diseases was first published over 15 years ago.

Originally put together with combined funds from AHDB and BASF, the essential easy-reference guide has been rebranded several times since.

The diseases are ordered alphabetically by their common names.

The causal pathogens' scientific names are indexed alphabetically near the end of the encyclopaedia, along with a glossary of technical terms.

Content is structured in a similar way for each disease.

The common name features at the top of each page, followed by the pathogens responsible and the crop hosts affected.

Where fungal pathogens have both a teleomorph, sexual stage, and an anamorph, asexual stage, the teleomorph is listed first, followed by the anamorph in brackets.

Symptoms are illustrated and described, together with an outline of the pathogen's life cycle and an indication of the importance of the disease.

This encyclopaedia is not a guide to disease control, but it can help lay the foundations for integrated pest management (IPM).
