Join us for the launch of Ripon Monitor Farm and a summer meeting.

Monitor Farm host Jonathan Fryatt is keen to learn more about agricultural conservation following the loss of subsidies and the introduction of ELMS, as well as improving both drainage and soil health across the estate. At this meeting we will assess the strengths and weaknesses of the farm, with a focus on soil cover, better organic matter and direct drilling to minimise soil disturbance.

This session will be an opportunity to discuss current topics and activity at your local Monitor Farm, and how the programme will evolve for the coming winter season. Topics to be discussed include:

  • Introduction to the farm business, including soil type, cropping and cultivation strategy
  • The machinery and equipment on the farm, highlighting the cost of production and benefits of Farmbench
  • Grain storage and marketing
  • The diversification of the business

The meeting will also be an the opportunity to look at the strengths and weaknesses of the business and to identify key local issues, opportunities and topics that you would be interested in covering over the next three years.

We look forward to welcoming you back on-farm to see what the focus, objectives and plans are for the next three years on this estate's arable farm.

Due to coronavirus restrictions, this meeting will be limited to 30 people - booking is therefore essential. Refreshments will not be provided but bottled water will be available. Hand sanitiser stations will also be available and social distancing measures will be in place. As we will be outside for the farm walk, please bring appropriate footwear and clothing for the weather. To read the AHDB COVID events protocol, please click here.
