Ian Farrant joined AHDB’s Farm Excellence programme last year as a Beef & Lamb Monitor Farm. He buys and finishes 750 dairy cross beef calves per year and all finished animals are processed through Dovecote Park. Ian’s objective for the Monitor Farm Programme is to run a more profitable business, whilst being as close to carbon neutral as possible.

Join AHDB and Dovecote Park for this event looking at the results of Ian’s carbon audit, what those figures mean and how Ian plans to reduce them further by reducing fertiliser usage, using home grown proteins and improving cattle performance. We will have a range of knowledgeable speakers including Dr Liz Genever independent beef and sheep consultant, Jon Vickery from Agrii and Rob Watkins from Pinnacle Agri.

What we will cover;

  • What carbon footprinting is
  • How to interpret reports
  • What can be done to reduce your carbon footprint
  • How efficient grazing methods and mixed species swards can help

Lunch and refreshment will be provided, please let us know of any specific dietary requirements.
