Join us for an interactive workshop to look at how lung scanning, other calf-rearing protocols and nutrition could benefit your farm.

During this workshop, Beckie Harrison (Rough Grounds Farm's vet) will discuss lung scanning techniques using calves, looking at data from the farm.

We’ll explore how lung scanning can help farmers assess lung damage caused by pneumonia and understand its impact as calves transition into the milking herd.

Dr Laura Tennant (Young Animal Feed Technical Advisor at Trouw Nutrition GB) will demonstrate general calf health and protocols for efficient rearing and nutrition at Rough Grounds Farm.

Laura will discuss the differences in milk powders and how to find the right one for your farm. She will also look at how to maximise rumen development as calves transition onto forage.

This meeting will cover

  • Benefits from lung scanning calves  looking at data from Rough Grounds Farm's calves in 2023 and using this as a baseline
  • Calf nutrition and picking the right milk powder for your system
  • Ranking calves in terms of digestibility
  • The rearing costs in your farming system
  • Guessing the daily liveweight gain of a calf
