The 2025 British Cattle Breeding Conference will address how cattle breeding can meet the rising demands of food production while simultaneously reducing the impact of methane emissions.

The conference will kick off with an interactive bovine workshop on Monday afternoon, followed by beef presentations on Tuesday and dairy presentations on Wednesday.

AHDB is one of the main sponsors of the British Cattle Breeding Conference 2025.

Speakers

Some of the confirmed speakers include:

Marco Winters, Head of Animal Genetics, AHDB
Marco will discuss how informed breeding decisions can dramatically improve performance and productivity.

Graham Wilkinson, AHDB CEO, and Samantha Charlton, Director, AHDB Beef & Lamb
Graham and Sam will be diving into the dynamic future of our industry. Discover how a blend of British exports, industry reputation, animal genetics and much more can come together to pave the way for our shared success.

Hannah Batty, vet (LLM vets) and Nuffield Farming Scholar
Hannah will reveal the results of her recent Nuffield report, which explores how farmers can better manage people to deliver improved cow health and welfare.

Tianhai Yan, from the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) at Hillsborough
Tianhai will discuss AHDB's Feed into Beef project, which has resulted in new nutritional models for feed intake and energy feeding standards.

Martin Jenkins, Defra
Martin will divulge what funding is on offer to help farmers improve herd health and welfare.

Sophie Gregory, award-winning organic dairy farmer
Sophie will explain what breeding tools she uses to identify the most profitable cows within her herd.

Ginny Sherwin from the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, University of Nottingham
Ginny will talk about how farmers can balance profit and animal welfare when rearing the next generation of their herd.
