UK Ministers reappoint AHDB board members

Colin Bateman has been reappointed as board member and Beef & Lamb Sector Council Chair for three years with effect from 13 March 2025.

Lyndon Edwards has been reappointed as board member and Dairy Sector Council Chair for three years with effect from 13 March 2025.

Catherine MacKenzie has been reappointed as board member and Chair of the AHDB Remuneration and Nominations Committee (RemNom) for three years with effect from 13 March 2025.

Stephen Briggs has been reappointed as board member for three years with effect from 13 March 2025.

 Nicholas Saphir, AHDB Chair, said:

Mr Bateman will receive a non-pensionable remuneration of £25,200 per annum, based on a minimum time commitment of 72 days per year.

Mr Edwards will receive a non-pensionable remuneration of £25,200 per annum, based on a minimum time commitment of 72 days per year.

Ms MacKenzie will receive a non-pensionable remuneration of £12,600 per annum, based on a minimum time commitment of 36 days per year.

Mr Briggs will receive a non-pensionable remuneration of £12,600 per annum, based on a minimum time commitment of 36 days per year.

Reasonable travel expenses are also paid.

Nicholas Saphir has agreed to extend his current appointment as Chair of the Agriculture and Horticulture Board (AHDB) for a further two months, from 1 April 2025 until 31 May 2025, to allow Ministers to make a final decision on the appointment of a new Chair.

All board appointments at AHDB are made by Defra Ministers, with approval from Ministers in the devolved governments, in accordance with the Governance Code on Public Appointments published by the Cabinet Office.
