Pig Health Scheme assessment dates announced

Friday, 21 January 2022

As a result of COVID-19 and the increased pressure that plants and assessors were facing, we temporarily suspended Pig Health Scheme assessments in 2020.

We are pleased that in an increasing number of abattoirs assessments have recommenced.

Assessments are currently being carried out at Cranswick Country Foods (Norfolk), Pilgrims (Spalding), Pilgrims (Ashton) and Pilgrims (Westerleigh).

Find out when the next assessment is in your area.

The Pig Health Scheme is a development of the former British Pig Health Scheme (BPHS). The assessors on the scheme monitor English pigs at slaughter for prevalence and severity of 12 conditions. Assessments (which began in March 2019) are carried out by specially trained veterinary assessors at designated abattoirs throughout England.
