Liveweight lamb prices ease, deadweight prices tick up

The GB liveweight NSL SQQ stood at 294.31p/kg in the week ending 13 July, a drop of over 23p compared to the previous week but still over 40p above the 5-year average. Market throughputs for the week were estimated at 86,600 head (NSL + OSL), a drop of 35% on the week previous and 30% below the same time last year.

An estimated 26,100 cull ewes were sold via auction this week and averaged £97.03 per head.

The GB deadweight NSL SQQ stood at 645.9p/kg in the week ending 9 July, up 8p on the week recovering from last week’s drop. Estimated throughputs at abattoirs were 215,500 head, up 27,100 head on the previous week, but 10% behind year earlier numbers.GB deadweight lamb price comparison
