Global export conference on the outlook for UK Agriculture
Thursday, 30 August 2018
AHDB will host a first-ever cross-sector export and trade conference on 17 October 2018 at the Grand Connaught Rooms, London, with Secretary of State for International Trade, Liam Fox MP discussing future government policy on trade.
The conference entitled ‘Global Britain: Exploring Agricultural Export Opportunities’, will address key questions such as where are the international opportunities and how do we turn them into commercial reality, how Brexit affects businesses’ export plans and the government’s ambition for agricultural export.
This event is at a critical juncture as the United Kingdom’s decision to leave the European Union is dominating the national discourse. The emotive conversations from the 2016 referendum on membership in the EU has been replaced by a real sense of urgency for UK companies to strategise for what life might look like post-Brexit.
It is a far-reaching issue – covering exchange rates, imports and exports, access to markets and customs regulations – which will be felt across the breadth of the agricultural industry.
Keynote speakers confirmed:
- Secretary of State for International Trade, Liam Fox MP –Liam Fox MP to discuss future government policy on trade and the role of agriculture in a post-Brexit world
- Head of Agrifoods, HSBC, Allan Wilkinson – Allan will speak on the UK position and outlook in the run-up to Brexit and how this may impact on the domestic and European agrifood markets
