This interactive workshop is designed for those who are starting to think about optimising marginal land on-farm. Where might that be? What are the opportunities if you can identify it? How might you start and what data would be useful?

A practical workshop for farmers, managers and advisors, it will provide an introduction to how you might start this process.

Hosted by David Clarke (NIAB) who is leading on marginal land research for practical use on-farm and Brian Barker (Strategic Cereal Farm East host) who has a project with David looking at identifying marginal land on his farm this year, this workshop will cover:

  • What data is available and would be useful to start out
  • How to identify your marginal land on a field level
  • What opportunities are available when you have identified these areas?

With ELMS and stewardship opportunities not far away, impacts of extreme weather and changes in market prices, knowing the productivity of your land will be a key part of getting the best economic and environmental return for your business going forwards. Start your journey with us at this workshop.

BASIS and NRoSO points are available for attending/watching this webinar.
