Join AHDB and host farmers Cheryl and Rob Higgins for the Environment Baselining Pilot (EBP) summer farm open day in the Midlands.

The EBP is assessing the environmental impact of agriculture using real data to measure the environmental position of 178 farms across the country.

This event will bring the data off the page and into the field, showing how you can use baselining insights to make informed decisions on your farm.

Whether you’re wanting to understand what the project means for you, or simply curious about soil carbon, emissions, trees, hedges and the wider environmental picture, you’ll find something useful and relevant to you.

The event includes:

  • Latest activity and results from the project
  • Introduction to Bentley Ford
  • Keynote presentation on the EBP
  • Three interactive field station talks
  • Refreshments and catering

Bentley Ford Farm is also part of the Dairy Carbon Network farm (UK DCN)a farmer-led, UK-wide initiative working with more than 50 dairy farms to trial and demonstrate practical ways of reducing greenhouse gas emissions on farm.

UK DCN focuses on testing realistic, farm-ready solutions that support both environmental sustainability and the day-to-day running of dairy businesses.

The project is led by the Agri Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) and funded by Defra, with support from a UK-wide partnership of research and industry organisations.

Cheryl and Rob Higgins have been part of the UK DCN project from the outset. Their on-farm focus areas include enhanced nutrient management planning, breeding approaches to reduce methane emissions and improving animal health and welfare through transition cow management.
