Join AHDB and host farmer Sam Parsons for the Environment Baselining Pilot (EBP) summer farm open day in Central Scotland.

The EBP is assessing the environmental impact of agriculture using real data to measure the environmental position of 178 farms across the country.

This event will bring the data off the page and into the field, showing how you can use baselining insights to make informed decisions on your farm.

Whether you’re wanting to understand what the project means for you, or simply curious about soil carbon, emissions, trees, hedges and the wider environmental picture, you’ll find something useful and relevant to you.

The event includes:

  • Latest activity and results from the project
  • Introduction to the Farm
  • Keynote presentation on the EBP
  • Three interactive field station talks
  • Refreshments and catering

Find out more about the EBP and what you will learn from this event

Balcaskie is a modern working estate at the heart of the east Neuk of Fife. The estate covers 2,000Ha from the coastline at St Monans to Kellie Law and into the hills behind, with a mixture of let farms and in-hand farming operations.

Around 1400ha of the farm is dedicated to livestock production, farmed organically: a conversion process which started in 2016. The farm typically carries a mixture of native breed suckler cows and sheep whose grazing is integrated with crop production to help develop healthy soils. Mixed grazing allows grass to be managed at different lengths and improves grassland species diversity. Winter cover crops protect soil, capture water and feed soil biology.
