Positive week for liveweight lambs

Thursday, 3 September 2020

In the week ending 2 September, the GB liveweight NSL SQQ gained 10p to average 214.81p/kg. GB auction mart throughputs were u p 18% on the week at 116,900 head. Reports suggest that numbers were short in some parts of the country as some vendors were kept away due to harvest, which may have contributed to the price movement. There was also the bank holiday.

Conversely, the GB deadweight NSL SQQ slipped by 16.4p in the week ending 29 August to average 444.5p/kg. This is still over 50p higher than the same week last year. Estimated throughput at British abattoirs fell 12% on the week to 229,100 head.
