New video supports classroom learning on crop farming

With the help of our experts, a new educational video about how crops are grown and developed is now available for teachers to use in the classroom.

The video titled Farming Through the Seasons: A Year on an Arable Farm is aimed at primary-aged children. It explains how essential crops like wheat, barley and oats are grown to produce the food we eat every day.

Designed with the curriculum in mind, the video breaks down the key stages of crop growth, from planting seeds to harvesting, while highlighting the seasonal changes that shape farming life.

It also showcases how farmers care for the land and protect the environment, offering young students an engaging way to learn about agriculture and the food production process.

Hosted by Food – a fact of life, the video is part of a suite of free information and resources available to teachers of children and young people aged 3–16 years.

It forms part of our strategy to protect and promote the reputation of British agriculture by developing accurate and up-to-date educational resources to inform and engage future consumers.
