Liveweight SQQ lifts once again

In the week ending 25 November, the GB liveweight NSL SQQ lifted by over 4p to average 213.77p/kg. Liveweight prices currently stand around 40p above the five-year average, and nearly 27p above the same week last year.
Total throughput at auction marts lifted significantly on the week before, up 19% (20,800 head), estimated at 129,900 head. Market reports suggest more animals could be coming forward before the end of the year.
The deadweight price held steady in the week ending 21 November, the NSL SQQ averaged 462.2p/kg, slipping just under 1p on the week previous. The measure is now 41p above the same week last year, and an impressive 73p above the five-year average.
Estimated throughputs at British abattoirs were down 2,400 head on the week before, to total 263,500 head. This estimate is down 11% (33,800 head) when compared to the same week last year.
