Lamb prices find support with a lack of throughput

Liveweight lamb prices have had a bumper week this week. The GB liveweight NSL SQQ gained 12p, to 226.64p/kg. Industry reports suggest supplies were below demand, which is supported by the fact throughputs for the week were low at 90,600 head. Reports suggest there is currently demand for all weights. Overall pressure on the market is likely to remain though as the number of lambs available for kill increases in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile deadweight prices reflected last week’s liveweight trade. The GB deadweight NSL SQQ dropped 24p, to 468.6p.kg. Estimated kill for the week stands at 228,400 head, up on both the year and the week.
