GB lamb prices below 2021

In the week ending 23 February, the GB liveweight old season lamb SQQ averaged 265.08p/kg, up 1.97p from the week previous. Despite being 12.8p behind last year’s price, it is 47p above the 5-year average.

The total throughput (old and new season lambs) for the week is estimated at 90,550 head, down 11% on the week before.


The average price for cull ewes was at £96.57 with a throughput of 29,700 for the week.

In the week ending 19 February, the GB deadweight old season lamb SQQ averaged 586.00p/kg, a drop of 1.9p from the week previous. The price is 23p lower than the same week a year ago but remains almost £1 above the 5-year average.

The estimated kill was at 208,900 head for the week, down 10% on the week before but up 13% year on year.
