GB deadweight lamb prices ease

In the week ending 28 May, GB deadweight sheep prices lost some ground from the week before.

The NSL SQQ averaged 661.5p/kg, down 10.5p on the week. This put the measure down 2.2p compared to the same week a year ago, but up nearly £1.20/kg on the five-year average.

The OSL SQQ averaged 595.9p/kg, down 2.6p week-on-week, but still up over £1/kg on the five-year average.

Lamb slaughter at GB abattoirs during the week was estimated to be 184,300 head, up 6% from the week before, but 11% lower than the same week a year ago.

There is no liveweight price reported this week, due to the bank holiday. Normal service will resume next week.
