Foot Trimming Qualifications: What’s the latest?

Tuesday, 10 December 2019

The Dutch Diploma (awarded through DTC and The Utrecht Veterinary University) and City & Guild’s NPTC Level 3 qualification in cattle foot trimming have long been the two options when it came to achieving ‘qualified’ status as a foot trimmer. However, due to lack of demand the NPTC Level 3 Qualification will cease to be awarded at the end of 2019.

As a result of the risk that the UK can offer no formal foot trimming qualification, the Royal Agricultural University and CHCSB have worked together to produce a training course followed by  NPTC Level 4 Qualification on Bovine Lameness and Professional Cattle Foot Trimming. As well as being highly based on practical trimming, the course includes mobility scoring (for ROMS accreditation) and lameness prevention and control.

The February course is already fully booked with another planned for May.
