British dairy and pork head east in International Trade Week
Wednesday, 13 November 2024
British dairy and pork have taken centre stage at one of China’s leading trade shows, coinciding with International Trade Week.
Dairy and pork exporters joined our Export team to put their products on the map at Food and Hospitality China (FHC) – one of Asia’s leading food and beverage shows.
Their appearance at the show coincided with DBT-led International Trade Week (11–15 November) and enabled exporters to meet existing customers and potential new ones from the key Chinese market.
Our analysis has highlighted opportunities for red meat and dairy exports to Asia with its large population, increasing middle-class wealth and a high regard for food safety and quality among consumers.
Susan Stewart, AHDB Senior Trade Development Manager, said:
“China remains a key market for the pig meat sector, and we were delighted to be able to support our exporters in promoting their products at this important trade show.”
Lucy Randolph, AHDB Head of International Trade Development (Dairy), said:
“China and the wider Asia regions have enormous potential for our dairy exporters, and FHC is the perfect platform to showcase what we have to offer. Our stand at the show also gave visitors the chance to try out our virtual reality experience, following the dairy journey from parlour to plate, as well as enjoying tasty treats produced with quality British dairy by our on-stand chef.”
FHC followed the first appearance of the AHDB Dairy Export team at Gulfood Manufacturing – the food ingredient show – at the start of November, where the team was joined by three businesses with a focus on promoting mozzarella, Cheddar and milk powder.
Lucy added:
“Gulfood Manufacturing is an important showcase which gave us the chance to focus on promoting dairy products to the ingredients sector. The Middle East is a big, commodity-driven market and the show provided the ideal platform to demonstrate what our exporters have to offer.”
