ASF workshops empower producers
Monday, 17 November 2025
Our African swine fever (ASF) workshops continue to empower producers and vets to tighten biosecurity as the threat of an ASF outbreak remains an ever-present risk.
Through the workshops, we’re bringing together producers and vets, alongside Livetec Systems, to work through what would happen if there was an ASF outbreak and how we can all prepare.
Topics we’ve been discussing include:
- Managing waste and vehicle access under restrictions
- Keeping clear records – ideally digitally
- Using site maps to create bespoke contingency plans
By the end of the workshops, attendees go away with a much clearer understanding of what would happen if there was an ASF outbreak, as well as a series of actions they can address immediately, including:
- Updating records and making them digital where possible
- Reviewing site access so that it can be better controlled and/or simplified
- Updating contingency plans to reflect current layouts, staffing and procedures
Get involved
In the new year, we’ll be packaging up a suite of resources based on these workshops so that more people can run training sessions across the country.
If you're a producer and want to take part in one of these sessions, contact your vet to find out whether they are running a workshop.
If you're a vet and want to learn more about these workshops and the resources available, get in touch with us via: pig.health@ahdb.org.uk
