A mixed week for GB lamb prices

In the week ending 16 December, the liveweight GB NSL SQQ price fell by 5.2p on the week to average 212.9p/kg. Despite the weekly slip, the measure is still 17p/kg ahead of the price for the same week last year. Estimated NSL throughputs at British marts totalled 153,300 head, up 4% on the week.

On the deadweight front, the average GB NSL SQQ price rose by 2.9p on the week to 482.0p/kg. The measure is still over 50p above the price for the same week last year. Estimated slaughter at British abattoirs totalled 300,300 head, 12% higher on the week but 4% lower than a year ago.
