Recommended Grass and Clover Lists (RGCL)

Grass and clover breeders are continually improving the yield, quality, persistence and disease resilience of new varieties. These are independently and rigorously tested at sites across the UK and evaluated by a specialist panel to make it onto the Recommended Grass and Clover Lists for England and Wales.

Knowing the performance characteristics of grass and clover enables the selection of the best varieties suited to each system for optimum ruminant livestock performance.

The updated 2026/2027 RGCL lists are available here and include 11 new grass and clover varieties.
