Winter Agronomy Digital Roadshows (Scotland) – Business Resilience and Markets

Past Event

Wednesday, 27 January 2021

10:00am - 1:30pm

We have moved our popular Agronomy Roadshows online this year so we can still let farmers in Scotland know about the latest crop research. As well as addressing some of the hot topics affecting their businesses, not just in Scotland but local to their region.

In partnership with Scotlands Rural College (SRUC) and the Farm Advisory Service (FAS), we will provide information and thought-provoking conversations delivered via a range of speakers drawn from research, industry, and farming, to provide expertise from all areas of agriculture.

The third session will focus on business resilience and markets.

Arable businesses are seeking ways to improve their resilience whatever the future brings. We will assess the Brexit trade deal and its potential impact and what the market outlook will look like for the cereal and oilseeds markets in the year ahead. We will also look at global trends in the cereal, whisky, and other market sectors. In the face of uncertainty, what can farmers do to make their own system and business more resilient? Are there new crops you could be growing?

We will look at the potential for alternative crops in protein, fibre, health and nutrition, and more.

Speakers:

  • Julian Bell (SAC Consulting)
  • David Eudall (AHDB)
