About Tyddyn yr Eglwys

The herd consists of 550 Friesian x Jerseys with 130 home reared heifers calved at 21 months of age annually. Total land area is around 700 acres, which is mostly grass, and includes 395 acres of milking platform.

The farm is owned by Kim and Bryony Petty and operated as a joint venture with Dylan and Hannah Harries acting as contract farmers.

The aim of the business is to generate as much free cash as possible whilst enjoying the job and having time to enjoy off the farm whilst maintaining a sustainable business.

The business scores well against the AHDB key performance indicators for spring block calving.

Over the next 3 years Dylan and Hannah aim to further reduce their cost of production, maximising the benefits of recent infrastructure investments and continue to strive to ensure all business decisions have a positive impact on the overall profitability of the business.

About Strategic Dairy Farms

Strategic dairy farms aim to help farmers learn from each other through regular on-farm meetings where we will share key performance data and showcase what the best farmers are doing.

They form part of the Optimal Dairy Systems programme which aims to help dairy farmers reduce costs and increase efficiency by focusing on either a tight block or all-year-round calving system.

The growing network of strategic dairy farms have calculated KPIs for their enterprises which are shared at meetings and published online. These are physical and financial performance measures that are critical to success. Farmers can benchmark their businesses against these KPIs to help identify areas for improvement.

Mae’r busnes yn sgorio’n dda yn erbyn dangosyddion perfformiad allweddol AHDB ar gyfer lloia mewn bloc yn y gwanwyn.

Nod Dylan a Hannah dros y tair blynedd nesaf yw lleihau eu costau cynhyrchu ymhellach, gan wneud y mwyaf o fuddiannau buddsoddiadau diweddar i’r seilwaith, a dal ati i wneud eu gorau glas i sicrhau bod yr holl benderfyniadau busnes yn cael effaith bositif ar broffidioldeb cyffredinol y fenter.

Ffermydd Llaeth Strategol

Maent yn ffurfio rhan o’r rhaglen Systemau Llaeth Gorau, sy’n anelu at helpu ffermwyr llaeth i leihau costau a chynyddu effeithlonrwydd, drwy ganolbwyntio ar un ai system lloia mewn bloc tynn neu system lloia trwy’r flwyddyn.

Mae gan ein rhwydwaith cynyddol o ffermydd llaeth strategol ddangosyddion perfformiad allweddol cyfrifedig, a rennir mewn cyfarfodydd, ac a gyhoeddir ar-lein. Mae’r rhain yn mesur perfformiadau corfforol ac ariannol sy’n hanfodol er mwyn llwyddo.
