Past Event

Tuesday, 13 December 2022

7:00pm - 8:00pm

How do you rate your calving hygiene? Navel ill is one of the major causes of poor performance and mortality in young calves, caused when bacteria enters through the broken umbilical cord. As we approach the spring calving season, it’s important we revisit the causes of navel ill to reduce preventable deaths from the disease.

During the webinar, our guest speaker Ben Strugnell from Farm Post Mortems Ltd will discuss the following topics:

  • Prevalence of navel ill in the beef and dairy industries
  • Cause of the disease
  • Management practices to reduce its incidence

This webinar forms part of the AHDB Maternal Matters campaign, helping suckler producers breed heifer replacements which are efficient, profitable and fit for the future. Throughout the webinar there will be opportunity to ask any questions you have regarding the disease.

This webinar is fully funded by your levy so is therefore free to attend, but booking is essential. Register now online or by contacting the events team via email KE.Events@ahdb.org.uk or call 02476 478 782. If you can’t make the webinar, please still register and we will email the recording to you afterwards to watch in your own time.
