Overfeeding crude protein is an unnecessary expense, which affects cow fertility and productive efficiency. Our research has shown that it is possible to lower crude protein levels to reduce diet cost and achieve cleaner air through reduced ammonia emissions.

You are invited to hear AHDB Dairy scientist Dr Martina Dorigo talk about:

  • The importance of protein at different stages of lactation and current terminology
  • Effects of feeding 15% crude protein diets on milk yield, fertility, the environment and feed costs
  • Practical tips on how to formulate rations and improve available protein in forages
  • Monitoring milk ureas

In addition, Catchment Sensitive Farming’s officer, Jonathan Skidmore, will discuss forthcoming ammonia targets and cost-effective solutions.
