Managing the costs of rearing dairy replacements
Join AHDB and Farming Connect to hear how a good system of recording inputs can help to minimise rearing costs. Chris Coxon from Tiller Farm Consultancy Ltd will join Strategic Dairy Farm host Arthur Owen to demonstrate how to monitor and manage input costs of rearing heifers and identify areas where they may be reduced.
Rearing replacement heifers is a significant cost of dairy production. Ensuring heifers are reared as efficiently and economically as possible requires management information about inputs, costs, and growth rates. Only then can areas be targeted to improve efficiency and manage costs effectively.
During this event you will learn more about:
- How Arthur Owen and his family manage their heifer rearing
- What systems are in place to record costs and performance
- How to ensure 2-year calving targets are met
- Possible areas to reduce costs
- When do heifers start paying their way
Please note children under the age of 16 and dogs are not allowed at the event, even if they are staying in the car. Click here to find out more about AHDBs health and safety guidelines for events.
