Join us and local maize grower John Tingey to learn about the challenges of growing maize in this region.

Additional technical input will be provided by Jon Myhill of the MGA, regional CSF representatives and AHDB staff.

Weather permitting, we hope to visit two separate maize fields in the locality to show the practices employed in this challenging location.

These practices include:

  • Undersowing (differing approaches and species)
  • Foliar feeding
  • Placement, rate and choice of starter fertiliser
  • Drilling date
  • Varietal choice
  • SFI interactions

Meet for refreshments and introductions at 10:00am before heading out into the fields around 10:30am. The event will be over by 11:30am.

There will be a short car journey to the second field site. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

This is a joint AHDB, MGA and CSF event. It is free to attend but please book your place to assist with catering and other planning.

BASIS and NRoSO points will be available.

Please call or email if you have any queries.
