Low Ballees Farm, West Kilbride, Ayrshire Council,

KA23 9PG

Join AHDB and hosts David, Tom and Marion Campbell as they share insights from their three-year journey as a Strategic Dairy Farm and what they hope to learn from being one of the 35 Scottish baseline pilot farms.

We will look at the expansion of the cow shed and how this has been managed over the last three years as well as the work that has been carried out through the soil mapping programme, and the benefits this has brought to the business.

What to expect at the event

The event will cover:

  • Soil mapping – benefits of soil mapping and cost savings
  • Infrastructure on farm – new cow building, increase in the number of robots and managing the rise in herd numbers
  • Calf housing – discussions on the new building
  • Carbon audits – how has the expansion impacted results
  • Soil your undies – looking at the organic matter on farm
We will be joined by Laura Grieve from Agriconsulting and Jack Wilson, crop input specialist from Rhiza with a farm walk in the morning and have a deeper dive into the numbers in the afternoon.

Lunch will be available at the Waterside Hotel.
