This publication gives information on detecting and controlling mites in grain stores. Mites can infest and damage grain, they can also act as vectors for pathogens. In the UK there are at least 12 species of mite which can damage grain.
Understanding the quality and condition of grain is crucial. Accurate sampling at each stage of the grain chain is required to develop that understanding. It should help to reduce waste and minimise charges, claims and rejections.
