Laura Smith

Laura grew up in north Northumberland, where her parents are mixed farmers. Their systems are largely arable based, but with both cattle and sheep enterprises. Life at home gave Laura the enthusiasm for the industry, so she applied to study Agriculture at Newcastle University, which she graduated from with an honours in Farm Business Management.

After leaving university Laura took on a Regional Officer role with the Farm Business Survey where she was producing managerial accounts and enterprise reports for the farmers she worked with in the North of England. After this she joined AHDB as a Knowledge Exchange Manager for Benchmarking, where she helps farmers use Farmbench to benchmark their enterprises individually and as part of the business improvement groups she helps run in the North East and East Midlands.
