Significant increase in liveweight lamb price and throughput

The GB OSL liveweight SQQ lamb price rose sharply in the week ended 5 February, up 14.18p to 230.81p/kg. Throughput was up 5% on the week before, to 103,600 head although last week was particularly low, so this is a return to a more usual level.

During the week ended 01 February the GB deadweight  OSL SQQ increased 7.6p to 471.0ppkg. GB estimated slaughtering stood at 222,400 head, 9,000 fewer than the previous week although this is still up significantly (+28,600 head) on the same week a year ago.
