New dairy knowledge exchange manager for the West Midlands

Kelly Seaton recently joined our Dairy Knowledge Exchange team covering the West Midlands region.

The West Midlands region includes Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and parts of Leicestershire.

Kelly is maternity cover for Jess White and will hold the position until August 2025. She is no stranger to AHDB, as she used to be a knowledge exchange manager in Wales on the HerdAdvance project.

Kelly lives on her family’s dairy farm in Cheshire and is an active member of the Shropshire Holstein Club. Her three young children are also keen participants in the Holstein Young Breeders.

Reflecting on her return, she said:

“During my time away from AHDB, I’ve been deeply involved in the management and daily operations of our family farm. This hands-on experience has been invaluable, giving me fresh insights into the challenges and opportunities facing dairy producers today.

"I have a strong interest in transition management, calf health, genetics and staff management. I’m excited to share what I’ve learnt and support levy payers in the West Midlands.

 “I’m particularly looking forward to engaging with levy payers through discussion groups and meetings. I see our interactions as a two-way process: producers sharing their practical knowledge and me providing tailored advice, support and access to valuable resources.”

Kelly has completed the Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme (CEVAS) training and hosted school visits to her family farm, helping to inspire the next generation about where their food comes from.

With media training experience, she has also taken part in media interviews, providing a farmer's perspective on current industry topics.

Kelly wants levy payers to feel supported and confident in the services and advice we provide. Whether it’s through one-to-one conversations, events or online resources, she is eager to connect with farmers across the region.
