GB pig prices move up again

In the week ending 16th July, the GB EU-spec SPP rose by 1.98p to 193.09p/kg.  While prices maintain their upward trend, they are still estimated to be below current cost of production.

Slaughter numbers were estimated at 178,300 head, down 7.1% on the previous week’s numbers. Average carcase weights continued to lighten, down 600g  to 87.88kg.

For the week ending 9th July, the EU spec APP was up 0.9p to 195.47p/kg, narrowing the gap between the SPP and the APP to 4.36p.
