GB milk deliveries: October milk deliveries surpass record highs

Thursday, 13 November 2025

GB milk deliveries in October totalled 1,100 million litres, up 6.8% compared to the same period in 2024. Daily deliveries averaged at 35.48 million litres.

Production for this year’s milk season so far (April -October) sits at 7,661 million litres, up 5.5% compared to the same period in 2024. We are now also annualising against a period of growth in October 2024.

Month-on-month record highs for milk volumes have continued, with the milk-to-feed-price ratio remaining at very favourable levels.

The Met Office reported that temperatures were above average for October and rainfall was slightly below average in UK, though there was some regional variation.

Milk price announcements in November have been strongly negative for some processors. Commodity prices have slumped further amidst no slowing of milk volumes.

The rest of the world is also experiencing strong growth, whilst demand remains steady. The EU is also now seeing strong growth emerging which is likely to lead to further milk price correction.

The UK dairy market will suffer further falls due to oversupply in the domestic and global markets, particularly as the momentum for high milk volumes continues into 2026. However, the challenges of limited forage availability, higher bedding costs and culling decisions could slow down milk production. Every farmer situation will be different depending on contract and geography.  Those on aligned or organic contracts will maintain production whilst others may seek ways to pull back more quickly. However, we are already seeing challenges in processing capacity where breakdowns have occurred.  Next year’s spring flush could be very difficult unless production sees a significant reduction.
